Christian on the track!

"Forever yearning for more education...."

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the newly revamped School of R.O.C.C. Although I was only able to ride 3 and a half sessions mostly in the wet before an engine failure completely halted the rest of my time at RA on track, I can comment on the potential I see in the new R.O.C.C. layout with Instructors TomDwayneHarry, and Chris.

Absolutely awesome to see them implementing aspects from both California Superbike School and Yamaha Champions Riding School, coupled with nearly a century worth of racing between the 4. In addition to the theory classroom sessions that you normally find, they are moreso fine-tuning to the needs of the students. More than just talking "at" us, R.O.C.C. students are "quizzed" after each session while things are still fresh in mind.

Also, video and timing exercises of students are taken at various corners to show the true story of what the focus was for that session, and where it can be improved to be made safer, yet faster.

Added bonuses are the inclusion of off-track drills which help truly start to dial in our 'feel' of what our machines are capable of.

There are a few other tidbits that I don't want to divulge, but EVERYTHING is geared towards having a plan and measuring progress. I just wish I'd had more time, especially on the dry track of Monday afternoon.

I think nearly every one of us can admit we could be better at this. The choice we have as students of this craft and hobby is if we want to continue to try to "figure it out on our own" OR use the various resources available to us thru decades of experience to help us progress with far fewer mistakes. Simply 'adding speed' without focus and precision usually has a plateau that is tough to get past.

Stay ahead of the curve (pun intended regarding how we 'should' be looking at a corner ;-)) with a solid yet tweakable plan. No one gets better by consistently working on what corners they're already decent at.

Best thing said to me at ROCC was "Riders WANT to be better, but most aren't willing to make a change in order to find out where they can be better."
